Hi! I'm hosting a house concert on Saturday, March 21. The performances start at 7 p.m. EDT, but if you're
coming in person you can show up earlier for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. It's at
8 High St, Florence, MA 01062. If you can't make it in person, you can listen live to the performances online.
Jean Rohe and Liam Robinson
Raised in musical families sharing a common repertoire, Jean (guitar, mandolin) and Liam (accordion) found each other in New York City five years ago, where they have been singing together ever since. They share a love for the breadth of American song with a special penchant for mournful a cappella ballads. As performers of a new generation, Jean and Liam are passionate about carrying forward the tradition of participatory music, and their exquisite vocal harmonies won't get in the way of everyone singing along.
Apart from this duet project, Jean also performs in a variety of other ensembles spanning a wide range of styles, from improvised music and jazz to Brazilian and Afro-Peruvian music. Her first record, also featuring Liam Robinson, "Lead Me Home" (Oct. 2008), showcases many of her original songs. Jean works regularly as a music teacher and performer for young children in New York City. Check out some of her music at www.jeanrohe.com.
Liam is a composer and performer from Wisconsin, currently residing in New York City, where he appears frequently with Jean and the Becca Stevens Band. He also co-directs and composes for Red Light New Music, a contemporary music ensemble and concert series.
If you're planning on listening online, try out these test links (not of Jean and Liam unfortunately) so you can verify that you have the correct software.
